Bernardo Ruiz is the director behind the film Reportero.
Born in the country of Mexico he prefers to keep the city out of public knowledge as well as his age which is understandable for the light he as put under for making the film on such a deadly subject. His first film ever produced was released in 2008 and was a short documentary named "American Experience: Roberto Clemente".
the reasoning behind the film Reportero was purely by chance as when he first went to film the idea he had in mind was a film the highlighted the region since it has been put under such bad light. it was only until he had been to the region that he came in contact with ZETA and became interested in their work.
After he met with the journalist he shifted his views and ventured on this film and the impacts of the cartels in Mexico. Being that he was born in mexico he has a strong cultural connections to the land as well as its people, although he likes to dub himself a Mexican/American. He now hope the film sheds light on the region as well as tilting the views on Mexico and its people. He wants to show the world that even the Mexican people fight against corruption in politics as well as fighting to keep their communities safe from advancing drug trafficking. ultimately he wishing to bring the humanity back to Mexico and its people in the eyes of people in countries like the United States. changing their views on his country of origin
